Student Ambassador Program

The Student Ambassador Program is a hybrid organization that functions as both a student club and an extension of the Office of Student Affairs.  Ambassadors are chosen through an application process, and are expected to represent the College with passion and professionalism. They assist in a variety of campus visit programs, interview days, and facility tours throughout the academic year. Please read the profiles below to learn more about this year’s group!

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I visited other pharmacy programs but Manchester attracted me the most because the faculty and other pharmacy students were very friendly and welcoming. They all made me feel like an individual rather than just a number.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being a part of MUCOP is that everyone who is a part of this program is like my extended family. Due to the small class sizes it is easy to get to know your fellow classmates, students in the other classes, the professors, as well as the other faculty members.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I hang out with my friends and family, I play basketball and volleyball, and I also coach volleyball.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose MUCOP because I went to Manchester University for my undergrad, and I absolutely loved it! I loved how close you become with your professors and how much they are willing to help you. I saw that close-knit “ness” with the faculty here at MUCOP and wanted to continue my education with the same values that I experienced in my undergrad. I also chose MUCOP because it was pretty close to home for me.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about MUCOP is how close you become with your classmates. You spend all day every day with them, from going to class together to studying all evening.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I like to read, play tennis, snowboard, listen to music, and go shopping!

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose Manchester COP because overall the college is very welcoming and has great hospitality. When you walk in the door you are always greeted and you can tell that the faculty and staff genuinely care about the students. So far, Manchester COP has exceeded my expectations.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being a part of MUCOP is that the technology and curriculum is all brand new. The faculty works really hard to ensure the students are getting the best training, up-to-date information, and supplies necessary to succeed. As students, we also get pharmacy experience following our first semester of classes which is something you do not get to experience at a lot of other colleges.

What do you wish you would have known prior to starting classes in the Fall?
I wish I would have known how to manage my time better before starting classes in the fall. It was a huge transition from undergrad so I initially had a lot of adjustments to make. Now, I have found a schedule that works well for me.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I really liked idea of being a part of the inaugural class as well as their integrated class schedules. I also liked how they incorporated their IPPE rotations within the curriculum so we wouldn’t have to find sites on our own.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I love the small classroom size and how friendly the faculty is. Also, I love how our class consists of students from all over the country. I feel like it makes us even closer because we’re not from around the Fort Wayne area.

What made you most nervous before starting the program?
I was most nervous about the intensity of the program and whether or not my prerequisites would prepare me for pharmacy school.

I chose MUCOP because I liked the close relationship you can have with the teachers along with their competitive program. I went to MU for undergrad and love it there and I knew the COP would be just as good of a fit for me!

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
The small class sizes allow for one-on-one interaction between the students and the faculty allowing for a very interactive learning experience.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I spend time with my husband and our 2 dogs, friends, and family.

What do you wish you would have known before starting the program?
I wish I would have relaxed a little more the summer before starting school. I worked about 40 hours a week and took summer classes.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite part of the MUCOP is the relationships I have built with my peers, mentors, and faculty.

What areas of pharmacy are most interesting to you?
Hospital pharmacy (possibly pediatrics).

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose Manchester because I had a very positive interview experience. The students, faculty, and staff were all very nice during my interview day, and this made me very engaged with wanting to be a student here.

What were you most nervous about before starting the program?
The one thing I was most nervous about when starting the program was the workload. Pharmacy school is known to be a very rigorous course. Since starting school, I have found that if you manage your time wisely, keep track of deadlines, and study appropriately that the workload can be manageable.

What areas of pharmacy are most interesting to you?
Retail and Academia

On my interview day I was treated like family from the students and staff at MUCOP. They were polite, answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable. The location of MUCOP is less than 2 hours from my hometown.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of the Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being a part of MUCOP is being a part of a very diverse class. I love that MUCOP didn’t select a specific group of people and they selected people from various backgrounds across the United States.

What areas of pharmacy are most interesting to you?

At this point I am most interested in clinical pharmacy or drug information specialist within a hospital.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose MUCOP because the students and staff were so nice and inviting. They made me feel really comfortable and confident at my interview day. I have never experienced a school that was so focused on its prospective students.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being part of MUCOP is that it really feels like a huge family. Everyone says hi to each other and really tries to get to know each other. Also we all look out for each other and try to help each other succeed.

I chose Manchester COP because I went to undergrad at Manchester and enjoyed the atmosphere of the campus and the professors. My two years at Manchester I was able to experience firsthand that all faculty and staff members truly cared about me and pushed me to get the most out of my education. I knew that I wanted to take the next step of my education career and go to pharmacy school and I knew that Manchester COP was the right school for me.

The respect and courtesy I receive from my professors and faculty members and the technology that MUCOP utilizes.

The curriculum. I did not have any pharmacy experience so I wanted a school where I can start rotations early.

I am a die-hard soccer fan.

I chose Manchester COP because I LOVED Manchester University for my undergraduate. The university is so welcoming and is so student-focused. I loved that the program was welcoming and dedicated, but also new and up and coming.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about MUCOP is the faculty and staff, as well as the atmosphere they create. I feel like everyone has my ideas and future in their best interest and are honestly here to help me succeed as a future pharmacist. I feel like we are all one big family.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?
I am most interested in working retail pharmacy after graduation; most likely a chain pharmacy.

I chose Manchester COP because I saw that this was a school that has a promising future. The staff and curriculum are appropriately prepared and geared to prepare the students to be highly competent and fluent pharmacists, wherever they choose to practice their profession in.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
The faculty and staff are highly motivated to work with their students to ensure their success in classes, which builds my confidence and helps motivate me to work hard, knowing that I have a mentor and professor who is willing to invest the time to guide me to my goals.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?
The area of pharmacy I am most interested in working in the Emergency Department, as pharmacists have a necessary and highly respected role in not only dispensing medications, but advising doctors and nurses in the appropriate medicinal treatments of patients.

I chose Manchester COP because of its amazing program, astonishing faculty and the community overall. I feel that Manchester COP can prepare me to be a better pharmacist and a better individual because of its rigorous program and the newest technology that they possess.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I love how the school reaches out to the community and makes a difference by having the students organize many hands on activities. My ultimate favorite thing is the school itself and how aside from my family back home I can call this my second family, everybody looks out for one another and cares for each other.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I never looked anywhere else. After a meeting with one of the advisors, I decided this was the school I wanted to be a part of. The school believes in providing a helpful environment and will give all the resources they can to help us succeed. I like being a part of such a positive environment.

What were you most nervous about before starting the program?
I am an older student. After being away from school so long, I was worried I would be able to keep up with the pace and intensity of a doctorate level program.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I like to go for walks or have a project that involves creatively solving different problems I have not dealt with before. It usually involves building something.

What do you wish you would have known prior to starting classes in the Fall?
I was very nervous about moving away from home for the first time, so I wish I would have known that it wouldn’t be as hard of a transition as I thought it would. After about 1 week, I was already adjusted to Fort Wayne and MUCOP pretty well.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being a part of MUCOP is being able to interact with the other students and faculty who are all so excited about the field of pharmacy, like I am. Since the practice of pharmacy has so many different settings, if I ever have any questions, there is a faculty member here who is an expert in that area.

What do you like to do in your free time?

What do you wish you would have known prior to starting classes in the Fall?
Other than Brand/Generic names, it would have been useful if I knew how to manage my time a little better since the curriculum is a rigorous one.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
The faculty and staff. Everyone is so warm and welcoming to you all the time that it makes you feel like you made the best decision by coming to this school.

What made you most nervous before starting the program?
Whether I would be able to manage the amount work that was expected to be done each semester. That’s the biggest reason why I never got a job as a technician until I had a grasp at what I was getting myself into.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose Manchester College of Pharmacy because of the smaller class size compared to some of the other pharmacy schools. I also chose Manchester because the faculty and staff through my experiences with Manchester University have always put students first and they want to see all their students succeed.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite part about MUCOP is the up to date facility and curriculum that is practical and applicable to today’s pharmacy environment. The curriculum gives students exposure and practice starting in your first year of classes and this is a unique aspect of the program that not all programs offer.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?
I am interested in the emergency medicine side of pharmacy along with oncology.

What were you most nervous about before starting the program?
Before starting the program, I was most nervous about making friends my age. I came into the program at age 20 and I thought everyone would be older and interested in different things. While all of my friends are older, we have similar interests and I do not feel like an outcast because of my age.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of the Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being part of MUCOP is being a member of the inaugural class. There are no set traditions here, we create them ourselves! I think being the first class has also allowed us to develop stronger relationships with the faculty.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?
It is easy to say I’m most interested in geriatric pharmacy! I love working with the elder population and making a difference in their level of care.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
Not only because I did my undergrad at the North Manchester campus, but because I wanted to be a part of a new program. I wanted my opinions to matter and to help shape this program.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I like that faculty and staff works with us and treat us as colleagues, rather than just students.

What were you most nervous about before starting the program?

Living alone, moving out of my parent’s house, and not having my horses around. When I get stressed, I go to the barn. After moving up to Fort Wayne, I couldn’t make the 45 minute trip all the time. I had to find some other ways to relieve the stress and relax.

I chose Manchester COP because I attended Manchester University for my undergrad. I knew this school would have the same similar values and expectations for their students. I appreciate that Manchester makes such a strong emphasis on service and how we can help one another.

What do you wish you had known prior to starting classes here?
Prior to starting classes in the fall, I wish I would had known how important it is to stay on top of assignments. I have learned now how important it is to try to stay ahead, so you avoid feeling overwhelmed with the coursework.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy exercising, spending time with my friends and family, and playing basketball.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
My favorite thing about being a part of MUCOP is the faculty and the students. The faculty and staff have the best interest in you they are so caring. They are always willing to help you. The students/friends are my extended family is amazing how we support each other.

What do you wish you had known prior to starting classes here?
I was most nervous of leaving my family, my friends, my dogs and start a new life 4,000 miles away from home, away from my beautiful Island of Puerto Rico. It was a big challenge for me, but I know challenges make us grow both personally and professionally.

Being able to talk to patients based on our drug knowledge; most likely in a retail pharmacy.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
Being involved in various aspects in the college, from being a part of the ambassadors club to meeting with Dr. Beckett to discuss how DI is going and to starting research with Dr. Ray. The college of pharmacy has really provided me with some great opportunities that I never thought I would be doing. I really love being involved with the school because it lets me try new areas I’ve never experienced before and lets me work alongside my fellow students and professors in building a great perception of MUCOP.

What made you most nervous before starting the program?
I was nervous about the curriculum and if I would pass all my classes. I was also nervous about starting a professional program, since I wasn’t sure what to expect.

What do you wish you had known prior to starting classes here?
I wish I would’ve realized how difficult it is to work and be involved in different activities while trying to focus on school all at the same time.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
Being a part of MUCOP is like being a part of a big family where everyone looks out for each other. We all take on the challenges of being in pharmacy school together along with always trying to have a good time as a big group.

I wish I knew how important time management was so I could have adapted quicker to the way pharmacy school was during the fall.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
We are all here a huge family; not just in my 2017 class but with all other classes and especially with the staff at MUCOP. We all work together every day to achieve a common goal of being successful pharmacists.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?

I am interested in retail pharmacy at this point, but I am looking forward on going on my clinical IPPE rotations this year which might change my decision.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
I chose Manchester COP because of the curriculum and faculty. The Integrated Pharmacotherapy (IPT) courses during the second and third year of the program are a unique aspect of the curriculum that not all pharmacy schools have. The faculty members are all experienced and knowledgeable in their profession, which confirmed my belief that this would be a great College of Pharmacy.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Cooking, reading, going to museums, watching movies

What were you most nervous about prior to starting the program?

I was most nervous about the course work prior to beginning pharmacy school. I knew it would be much more difficult than undergrad, and didn’t want to fall behind.

I chose Manchester COP because I loved the location and the faculty/staff that I met on my interview day. I also loved the idea of small class sizes and getting to know everyone.

My favorite thing about being part of MUCOP is that we are a huge family. I have learned so many new things from such a wonderful, ambitious, diverse class that I have never experienced before coming from a small town in Michigan.

Why did you choose Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
The teachers during the interview were very friendly with a variety of background in their education. The way the program is laid out seemed very doable. I love being in a leadership position and being in a new school; I knew I was going to utilize that trait and pave the way for future classes. Also having IPPEs the first semester was a huge positive, being able to work and apply what I learned that semester right away solidifies my studies.

What’s your favorite thing about being a part of Manchester University College of Pharmacy?
The students - they are my second family, since this is the first time I moved out of my parents’ house. They are my support and we have come to learn and grow up together.

What area of pharmacy is most interesting to you?

I am most interested in teaching as well as working in a hospital during rotations with other healthcare professionals.
