He talks about witches, witchcraft and witch beliefs to see the implications of all of this for us. Most people are ignorant about witchcraft. Historians look at the past to find origins of contemporary institutions. The study of this topic provides insight into the origins of contemporary problems.....how a culture can isolate 1/2 of toal population (woman) and suggest that women were more particularly thrown to the influence of the devil than men ...and then take this information to see how this understanding relates to the formation of sex roles in europe... and... it teaches us to be on the lookout for the fanactic and inquisitor within ourselves.
