He is considered to be the first member of the faculty whose academic specialty and doctorate was in biblical studies. Dr. Eiler taught both Religion and Philosophy. A handwritten note by his name in the book, "A Century of Faith, Learning and Service, indicates that he taught at the College from 1969-1993. An article in the Manchester Magazine, states that he retired from Manchester College in 1992.* During his 23 years at Manchester College he led study trips to Israel, India and Egypt. Dr. Eiler died 7 January 2008.
