File Folder #1 - Postmarked and stamped envelopes addressed to Edith Miller (see also MC2008/208 - Miller, Edith Alice Collection), Amos B. Miller, Mrs. Amos B. Miller, George Miller, Mrs. Sarah Miller,  Mrs. Otho Winger, and Dr. and Mrs. Otho Winger, spanning 1903 - 1938.

File Folder #3 - Envelope postmarked  New York, 22 December 1927 - addressed to Amos B. Miller, North Manchester. The letter is from Otho and Ida sent to "Dear Ones at Home."

January 3 - Tuesday Evening - England.

File Folder #5 - Envelope postmarked 4 January 1928 addressed to Amos B. Miller, might not go with the letters in the file.  Letters are as follows:

17 January 1928 - "Among the Alps of Switzerland."

"On a Swiss Train the Alps Along the Rhone River." The city of Strausburg is described.

"Two More Days in England."

File Folder #6 - Someone has determined that the envelope is postmarked 13 January 1928?  It is addressed to Edith Miller.  The letter is titled, "A Night's Ride on A Train Through Germany," (midnight January 7-8, 1928).

File Folder #7 - Enveloped postmarked 22 January 1928 and is addressed to Edith Miller.  The title of the letter is, "Rome."

File Folder #8 -  Envelope addressed to Edith Miller:

"Cities of Northern Italy." by Otho Winger (typed) and one from Ida (handwritten) written in "Taranto, Italy" and dated 27 January 19(26?).

File Folder #9 - Envelope postmarked 28 January 1928 and addressed to Edith Miller.:

 "Athens, Greece,"  by Ida Winger.

"January 1928," letter by Otho Winger.

File Folder #10 - 6 February 1928 - "On the Mediterranean Sea, Nearing Beirout," by Ida Winger with a note from Otho.

File Folder #11 - Envelope addressed to Edith Miller:

8 February 1928 - "Jerusalem, Palestine," by Ida Winger.

9 February 1928 - "From Modern Jerusalem to the Dead Sea." by Otho Winger.

16 February 1928 -  Ida Winger writes, "Jerusalem, Palestine."

9 February 1928, "Our First Views in Palestine." " From Jerusalem."

22 February 1928 -  "Jerusalem, Palestine," by Ida Winger.

File Folder #16- Envelope postmarked 22 March 1928- Addressedto Amos B. Miller, North Manchester- Contained a note titled “Hurriedly before sending this- Our schedule is this.” Described locations and dates expected to be at each place.

20 March 1928- Anklesvar, India- “Dear Ones at home”- by IdaWinger –Describes visits to Hindu schools and people they met- mentioned timespent with sister Mable.

9 March 1928- “Daily Notes on India,”- Decribes experiencesin Bombay and Palghar. Contains entries from March 9-18. Described stays inAnklesvar, Bulsar, Umalla, and Valli. Wrote of District Meeting and Missionary conference.

Folder #16b - (formerly file folder #26) - "Notes from India" written 26 March through 9 April and includes Easter Sunday. 

File Folder #17- Someone has determined that the envelope is postmarked 25 May 1928? May or may not go with letters in file. It is addressed to Edith Miller. The letter is titled, “On the Way Around the World.” Entries from April 11-26. With last entry sentence containing “Will finish our letter when we hear from home.”

24 April 1928- “On Board the Sado Maru,” by Ida Winger –BetweenSingapore and Hong Kong. Describes time aboard the ship, nearly 13 days beforeletter was written.

28 April 1928- “Hong Kong,” entry from same letter.

File Folder #18- Envelope ripped, missing postmark.Addressed to Amos B. Miller.

13 March 1928- Anklesvar, India. “Dear Mother, Father, andSister,” by Ida Winger, written during when the District Meeting and MissionConference was taking place.

File Folder #19 - Anklesvar, India - letters from Ida (26 March 1928) and Otho ( 19-26 March 1928).

File Folder #20 - Ida and Otho write from China in May of 1928.

File Folder #21 - Ida and Otho write from China and Japan.

File Folder #27 - Letters from Japan.

File Folder #28 - April 1931 letter from Reemy Georg? Nazareth, Palistine. Other correspondence to Mr. and Mrs. Otho Winger (1934) from Reemy.

Bertha Neher Letters - regarding her travels abroad -are included in the folders identified as Amos B. Miller Collection, MC2009/635 File Folder 35 through 40.

It appears as if much of this correspondence is written to family during Oho and Ida's trip around the world 1927 - 1928. Often Otho will type a litter and Ida will write by hand.  Occasionally, Ida gets to use the typewriter.  Sometime they will each write part of a letter, or one will add several sentences at the end. 

This collection of correspondence was originally called the Amos B. Miller Collection, but since most of the envelopes were addressed to Edith, the archivist changed the title.  Amos Miller is probably the father of Edith Miller and of Ida (Miller) Winger, and also the father of Bertha Miller Neher.
