Ray appears in two of the photos. many were taken at Aide aux Enfants in Port-au-Prince, and organization feeding needy children with the assistance of Church World Service and the World Health Organization. It appears that this is where CCF support was directed.

Newspaper articles on CCF:

"Petersime Begins Mercy Mission," in Journal Herald (Dayton, OH), 23 October 1965.

"Haiti Children starve, Area Traveler Learns," (Marion Esterline) in Journal Herald (Dayton, OH), 3 December 1965.

"Four Given Great Gift: A Home in America," (Marion Esterline) in Journal Herald (Dayton, OH) 29 December 1965.

"Gettysburg Home of International Child Care Group," in Greenville Advocate (Greenville, OH), 9 July 1966.

"Gettysburg Foundation Aids Children," in the Pique Daily Call (Piqua, OH), 11 July 1966.

"Where They Wait - In a Room of Uncertainty and Sadness," (Jesse Donahue), in Journal Herald (Dayton, OH), 30 August 1965.

Folder of CCF expense documents, including plane tickets for trip to Haiti on 23 October 1965, apparently returning on 27 October, and receipts for postal box rental between September 1965 and September 1966, and postage and office supplies. It appears that this postal box was the main CCF mailing address during that period.

Folder of public relations documents, correspondence with PR firm and press releases, dated 5 November 1965 to 28 June 1966. Last item was letter dictated by Ray suggesting that the CCF was experiencing difficulties. Also, several copies of brochures about Aide aux Enfants.

Folder of Board of Directors' meeting minutes, dated 16 August 1965 to 7 March 1966.

Folder of Board members' biographies.

Folder of CCF newsletters from Jim and Virginia Snavely in Haiti, dated 15 September 1965 to 28 May 1966. Also a note (29 June 1966) to Virginia from Betty Debels with mention of Ray's condition and attitude.

Folder of miscellaneous correspondence, dated 31 August 1965 to 19 April 1966, including communication with CROP, Brethren Service Commission and Thurl Metzger (Heifer Project).

Folder of donation 114 donation acknowledgement letters, dated 14 October 1965 to 19 July 1966 (last one dictated by Ray only days before he died).

Folder of documentation of donations sent on to James Martin (CCF treasurer), dated 13 October 1965 to 10 August 1966. Last mailing mentions sorrow after Ray's funeral. It appears that Ray received donations to CCF at the Gettysburg address, then periodically forwarded the funds on to Martin.

Folder of documents regarding Ray's assistance with the immigration of Jean Claude Carrenard ("Kiki") from Haiti in late 1965. There is also correspondence about bringing his girlfriend to live in the U.S. It appears that issue was unresolved with Ray died.

Folder containing document from Haitian government regarding CCF (in French).

Folder of mailings to Board members dated July to September 1965, includes copy of CCF by-laws.

Folder of CCF financial reports from July 1965 through April 1966.

Folder of correspondence with Dr. Curtis Bowman, September 1965 to March 1966.

Date of Accession22 March 2021
Bio History NoteNote from Leland Miller: This activity took place in the final year of Ray's life. In fact, it appears that he continued this work, dictating correspondence, literally into his final days. He passed on July 24, 1966. There are also several mentions by his staff of his condition and then the sorrow.  Since the chronology of this material ends soon after Ray's death, I don't know what became of the CCF. I've found nothing online about it and there is a comment in one of these documents that suggests it may not have been on firm footing even when Ray was around.
Archivist NoteDescription prepared by Leland Miller and copied by Jeanine Wine,15 March 2021. Aside from some small editorial changes by Wine, Miller authored the description.
