Bio History Note

Carl Waldo Holl graduated from Manchester College in 1916.  He taught public school in Atlanta, IN, after graduation, and later served in the military as a medical technician, at Fort Sherman, during World War I. At this position, he assisted with patients suffering from the influenza epidemic (circa 1918), and remarked that he saw more deaths serving in that capacity than he others saw in combat.   From 1923 until his death in 1961, he worked at Manchester College as a chemistry professor and dean.
