| Date of Accession | 01 March 2004 | Bio History Note | Dr. Emerson Niswander's,( "Doc.'s") gradebooks, photographs, pennants, banners, photographs (Doc, Likens, Bob Gorden, Gene Likens, Blair Helman and Doc's wife, Evelyn, and Professor Ed Miller), Anatomy & Physiology examinations, miscellaneous student information - confidential, MCAT records - confidential, class record, 1950 - confidential. | Archivist Note | The frame photographs, item #6, appeared to be growing discolored as the photographs aged. On 10 August 2011, the Archivist, Jeanine Wine, decided to remove the photographs from their frame, scan them, and store the originals in an archival unbuffered archival file folder. As the brown paper backing was peeled away it was found that cardboard had been used as a backing board and that this backing board had been glued to the mat board. The photos were wedged between the cardboard backing and the mat board without a barrier. A residue was left on the glass where the matt board and picture had reacted with its environment. The archivist's guess is that the interior layer of mat board was probably not archival. The printed image had definitely yellowed where exposed to light. A clear or scotch tape had been used to adhere the photos to the mat board. Description prepared 18 April 2004, updated 17 May 2004 by Sara L. Smith and last updated 10 August 2011 by Jeanine M. Wine. |
