Bio History Note | According to the book, "A Century of Faith, Learning and Service," Goldwater's visit to campus was made to appease townspeople who were unhappy over the presence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The unrest from local individuals stemmed from King's opposition to the War in Vietnam. Barry Goldwater was in support of the war and presented another viewpoint. |
