Bio History Note | The college chime was installed in the Administration Building chime tower in 1922. It is played every morning at 7:45 and every evening at 6 on days classes are in session. Noted by Archivist Sara Smith
Manchester College Director of Media and Public Relations, Jeri Kornegay, along with Public Relations Intern, Nate Hodges (Class of 2010), researched the inscription on the individual bells of the College Chime. They created a document by copying the chime bell inscriptions printed on pages 80, 81 and 82, of the Manchester College history book, A Century of Faith, Learning and Service, and printed this document out. Jeri and Nate took this document and climbed up into the chime tower, comparing the printed material to what was actually inscribed on each bell. They found mistakes and inaccuracies and made notations on the printed copy. They then went back down the tower and made corrections to the original document. After making revisions to the original, another document was printed out and Jeri and Nate took this copy with them as they went back into the tower to double-check the corrections against the source. The following inscriptions were verified by Jeri Kornegay and Nate Hodges on 12 May 2009. Noted by Archivist, Jeanine Wine, 14 May 2009.
