The chapel was a missionary project in North Manchester sponsored by the "Mission Band," a group of Manchester College students with aspirations of being ministers and missionaries. In an email of 14 March 2007, Progessor Eberly writes, The photo of the dedication of the West End Chapel triggered a lot of recollections. See a fuller discussion of this in my book, Manchester Church of the Brethren 1838-2000, pp. 47-49. I would sometime like to collect all photos of this project into a larger article or study.
