It appears as if this book was started in 1972. It contains invitations and newspaper clippings, fundraising and alumni events, Church of the Brethren items of interest, and much more. Autograph album 1910-1911. The album appears to have belonged to Mamie M. Wine who filled it during her first year at Mount Morris College. Album: Many postcards were addressed to Mamie Wine: The first part of the album contains photoraph postcards of what appears to be Mount Morris College students circa 1909. More research can match student names with years at the College. May of the photographs are identified - and many are quite funny because creative students have set up vignettes for the picture. There are also shots with horse and buggies and early models of automobiles. Some of the people featured are Nettie Mae Reiken, Illegia Miller Rowe, Elizabeth Hoots Blough, Mable Miller Wyne, Ruth Dailey, Mary Ward, Pearl West McCauley, Maurine Wingert, Jennie Sellers, Alma Wise, the Foodservice ladies, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Shively, Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Andrew Butterbaugh and Bertha Lehman. One picture is set on the steps of the Ladies' Dorm with Mr. and Mrs. West as Matron. Other pictures include Cecille Floyd and Mrs. Olson, Mrs. Snyder and the Epicureans, Orville West, Martin Replogle, Clint Shearer, a horse and buggy sporting a Mount Morris pennant after a hard fought ball game. There is a splendid picture of Elder D. L. Miller sitting in a rocking chair under a tree. Picture of male sports teams. The second part of the album has postcards of the Mount Morris campus (circa 1909), the Old People's Home (1908) and the Brethren Church near Elkhart. Some of the cards are addressed to Miss Mammie Wine, Cerro Gordo, Illinois. The third section of the album contain pictures that appear to be from the 1930's and 1940. Some names and places mentioned are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tempel, the Orient Hotel in Polo, Illinois, A fourth section appears to have pictures primarily of women and women's groups and what might be family photographs. One is of a woman modeling a girdle. Many people are identified. |
