A memo written 2 May 1972 by H. Lamar Gibble to the WMC Staff of the Church of the Brethren General Offices, Elgin, Illinois. He reports on the diversity within the historic peace churches in areas such as matters of peace vs. social justice, classical concepts of violence as opposed to institutional and systemic violence, and the relative emphasis upon Biblical concepts regarding non-resistance and non-violent resistance.

He mentions meeting Dave Gill for an HPC Consultation and gives his impression regarding Gill's attitude towards the use of violence or non-violence in bringing social change.

A continuing steering committee will be composed of one "Actionist" and one "academician." The Friends, Mennonites, and the Church of the Brethren will each send representatives and will draft a paper on unresolved issues.

Gibble also speaks of a meeting of the WCC, which the archivist SUPPOSES is the World Council of Churches?

The archivist does not know the organization associated with the "HPC."
