Bio History Note

Dale Barnard, 1952 Peace Studies graduate from Manchester College. He was student assistant to Dr. Muir for the three years he was at MC. Mr. Barnard was a Methodist during the CPS period, then spent 2 yrs. in Quaker Italian rehabilitation programs.  He rejoined the Quakers while working with Heifer International at New Windsor.  His Camp life, College days and Heifer days were in Brethren Fellowship.

2.  #134, Belden, Ca. Forestry Service.  Open: May 1944  Closed May 1946.

3.  #36, Santa Barbara , CA. Forestry Service.  Open:June 1942  Closed:  April 1944.

Note:  In Walhalla, Barnard was on wood cutting crew, planting crew and secretary Forestry Office.

Following are excerpts from Mr. Barnard's March 6, 2005 letter:

I have a considerable collection from my CPS days, and am happy to find a resting place.

Also my many years with Heifer Intl. Manchester contributed many of its Grads to Heifer.  Thurl Metzger, Bob Zigler & I, with others in the Office.  J. Benton Rhoades, Claud Wolfs, Erich Hoffman, Milo Yoder, the Wendel Ralstons, and, of course, Dan West, M.R. Zigler and countless CPS volunteers & cowboys.  An endless stream of Manchester's challenge to World Peace.

My life has been greatly Blessed thru the Church of the Brethren Relationships.
