Scope and Content

This reel-to-reel tape entitled, "A Look at the Brethren," was produced by Dean Frantz.  It answers questions about the Church of the Brethren:

What is it,

Who are the Brethren,

What do they look like,

What do they do?

This appears to be  the audio portion of a slide show or filmstrip that describes the Church of the Brethren.

Date of Accession23 February 2011
Bio History Note

The filmstrip mentions the "District" of the Church of the Brethren.  The churches of Logansport and  Marion are spoken about specifically, as may be others.  Phyllis Carter, from this district is also mentioned as is E. Paul Weaver. At present, time is not sufficient to listen to the entire recording. It would appear that Logansport and Marion are towns and churches located in the South Central District of the Brethren.

Loon Creek, Liberty Mills, Salamonie, Lower Deer Creek, Hickory Grove, Akron Church, West Manchester Church, Bachelor Run, Sugar Creek in the town of Tunker are also mentioned.  Also Timbercrest Retirement Center and the Mexico Home are talked about.

It would appear that this tape concerns the South Central Indiana District of the Church of the Brethren.

Lillian Grisso, Missionary from this district.

1969 Heifer Project anniversary and Thurl Metzger with Dan West.

Many other churches and individuals are recognized.

Manchester College.

Circa 1969.
