Bio History Note |
Archivist can not fine information regarding the first Manchester College funding of Town of North Manchester fireworks display in the Spring/Fall Board of Trustees Minutes, or in Parker Marden's book about his presidency.
1964 articles talk about the fireworks being on MC grounds but the event was sponsored by the American Legion, and financed by donations of industrial, business and professional people of the town.
An undated article from an undocumented newspaper has the article "College to host July 4 events" This photocopied article was located in the section of a PR notebook containing articles between June 25, 26, 27, 2001. The last paragraph tells who is paying for the display, "The college is providing the fireworks with assistance from members of the board of trustees and other friends *-*-*-*- {that part is cut off!!!}. For July 4, 2001, it sounds as if Parker, some trustees and friends might have pulled together something less formal than a budget line. The first budget line Susie Snepp can find is for FY 2002/2003. Information from Anne Gregory, Marketing, June 2018
