Copy of the "Articles of Incorporation." | | Date of Accession | 04 May 2007 | | Bio History Note | Spearheaded by concerned residents, Manchester Recycling, Inc. is part of the history of the town of North Manchester. The following is taken from the Strategic Planning Summary:
MRI's beginnings were noble in motivation with the intent of filling a recycling void in North Manchester and the surrounding area. Beginning in 1991 with volunteers collecting recyclables in a parking lot, MRI has now grown to operate out of a building at 204 N. Walnut, with 100 hours per week of paid staff time. From a meager financial footing at the onset, MRI is now building a strong asset base. MRI has also expanded operations to become capable of conducting the county-wide recycling program for the Wabash County Solid Waste District. Throughout MRI's brief history one thing has remained constant and that is MRI's reliance upon volunteers. ... MRI now stands at a crossroad in its organizational life. MRI has achieved its initial goals and mission and now operates without a plan or direction for the future. Without this clear future direction the important issues of Board structure, tax-exempt status, grant proposals, facility needs, and new programs remain undecided. ... With this concern the Board conducted a strategic planning process that assessed its mission, its current situation, its strengths/assets, its weaknesses/liabilities, its opportunities, and its threats.
