Bio History Note

Slides were not organized well.  There were groups of slides in plastic containers focusing on festivities for the Centennial Celebration.

It appears like a “Step Up to the Future Centennial Campaign” was launched in October of 1987, at least batches of slides were dated as such.  By comparing persons with backgrounds, containers of food, and the backdrop for the Centennial Campaign itself, it seems as if slides from various rolls of slide film all go together, although order is questionable.  It looks like there was a presentation on stage that included a reception for attendees.   Appearing is president emeritus, A. Blair Helman (eg. slides 5,  21, 22), as well as the then president, Robinson eg. slide 21, 22), and individuals like Jim Garber (slide 8).  Joy Groninger, MC graphic designer, is found in blue on photographs 14 and 15. Patricia Helman (slide 6).

Dr. John F. Young is the father of President Jo Young Switzer.  Hereceived a Bachelor of Science degree from Manchester College in1942. From 1942 - 1946 he went into military service as a Naval Aviator. The following year he was granted the Master of Arts degree from NorthwesternUniversity and earned his doctorate degree from Purdue University.  Dr.Young worked as Associate Superintendent of the Fort Wayne CommunitySchools, and served on the Manchester College Board of Trustees, leading thatgroup as Chairman.
