Jacob Halladay of Greenville, Ohio, married Margaret ("Maggie" Baker). They had five children. Two of these children were Paul Halladay and Ruth Halladay. Within the family, there came to be two Ruth Halladay's. Paul Halladay married, and when a daughter was born, Paul named this child, Ruth, in honor of his sister. Consequently, when Ruth Halladay married a "Burkett," she named her son, "Paul" in honor of her brother. Paul Burkett, Ruth's (Halladay) Burkett's son, is the donor of this postcard. Paul Halladay was an alumnus of Manchester College and former professor of Music, 1928-1967. Others have tried to describe the card's context and to transcribe the handwriting.
