| Archivist Note | Reel-to-reel audio tape transferred to CD by Stan Pittman’s Instructional Technologies Department in December 2010 or January 2011. A batch of reel-to-reel audio tapes was sent to the Instructional Technologies Department for digitization. During the transfer process, inaccuracies in the labeling of original tapes, along with labeling information used for the CDs, created a problem when trying to match tapes with CDs. If in the future, the archivist finds that the reel-to-reel tape included with the CD does not match the CD….don’t panic. The transfer was probably made…the wrong tape was just probably matched to the CD…and the correct tape exists SOMEWHERE…although it will be really hard to find…because the Archives does not have a reel-to-reel tape player…and the Archivist does not have the time to match approximately 50 recordings with CDs. Following the creation of the wave sound file, the original reel-to-reel magnetic tape was discarded by J. Wine on 1 January 2016 because the best possible copy had been made and the tape would only undergo further deterioration. Description prepared 25 January 2011 by Jeanine M. Wine and updated 1 January 2016 by Jeanine M. Wine. |
