A CD of Christmas Carols witih Alvin Brightbill at the console of the electronic chimes sent to the 1958 Brussels World Fair. 2. A CD of Alvin Brightbill playing the East Bell Carilon at the Riverside Church, New York, NY. | Date of Accession | 29 October 2006 | Bio History Note | Alvin Brightbill was a music educator, songleader, composer and seminary professor. He traveled widely in the Church of the Brethren and other denominations, leading music institutes in local churches, directing hymn festivals, repairing organs, and assisting with music and worship conferences. Brother Brightbill contributed a few hymn texts and many tunes and arrangements to hymnals and songbooks. He served on the executive committee of the Hymn Society of America, on the Commission on Worship and the Arts of the National Council of Churches, and for four years, as chairman of church music for the National Federation of Music Clubs.
