A. D. and Lola Bechtel Helser were Manchester College graduates and members of the Church of the Brethren.  They were pioneer Brethren missionaries to Nigeria with Mr. and Mrs. Stover Kulp.

Correspondence between M. R. Zigler and Otho Winger primarily related to the mission work of the Church of the Brethren.  Many names are referred to in these letters.  Not all letters are between Winger and Zigler.  There is mention of Winger's illness and operation on his head.
