This handwritten composition book is roughly scribed in two colors of pencil. Several pages are crossed out. A letter from 27 August 1925 has been inserted . On closer examination dates of Executive Committe meetings beginning 7 April 1900 through 25 June 1900 are recorded. The book begins: Meeting of Ex. Com. Sat. eve Apr. 7. "Decided to ascertain relation between Ex. Com. and Com. on Summer Term. Moved and carried that this Com. take the inititative step in securing resident teachers, and that teachers be asked to write out their proposition or present it orally to the Com. as a whole. Moved and carried that we tabulate the names of residet teachers to whom an inivitation is to be extended to work next year."
On the very last page of the book, Faculty Meeting minutes for Wednesday 11 April and 18 April 1900 can be found. It seems that April through June of 1900 found the Executive Committe faced with the prospect of looking for a new President while dealing with student controversy about having a President without a College degree. The book, "A Century of Faith Learning and Service" reports that Albaugh (1899 - 1900) was at the College for the graduation of 1900 but resigned thereafter.... and Ikenberry was acting president during 1900-1901. The minutes show much discussion about who would speak at the upcoming graduation. These minutes do talk about who might fill the President's position but do not show Ikenberry as acting President. This decision to put Ikenberry in that position might have come at the end of the summer and before the beginning of the Fall term. There was discussion about graduation exercises and the conferring of degrees (also see pg. 27 of "A Century of Faith Learning and Service" regarding the importance of having a President with a College degree, and student concern over the issue: 10 April 1 P.M Question of commencement to be taken up this eve.

It has been a mystery to the Archivist why Professor Francis O. Howe, the second son of first College President David Howe, resigned, after teaching instrumental music at Manchester College from 1899-1900. F. O. Howe is mentioned in these minutes, and the following may shed light onto his resignation. See MU2012/26 for decision regarding Howe's teaching during the summer term as well as controversy regarding Wm . H. Howe. : 18 April 1900 - Moved and carried that Prof. Moherman confer wtih Prof. Howe regarding work for the Summer Term.
