He was President of the Board of Trustees in 1911. Excerpt from Winger, pgs. 156m 157. Of the trustees who have contributed much to Manchester College, non made greater efforts than Elder Jacob Coppock of Tippecanoe City, Ohio. He was an active leader of southern Ohio. When his children were younger he had sent them to Brethren colleges in the East. Although he now had no children for college, he became interested in Manchester because he wanted a school for the young people of his territory. He was a trustee at a time when it was not popular to be such, but he was willing to make many sacrifices to see the school succeed. For many years he was president of the trustee board when it took a great deal of thought and sacrifice to do what was best for the school. His wife was Susie Studebaker, a member of one of the prominent famiiest of southern Ohio. He passed to his reward on August 11, 1925, at the age of 81. Assisting in the funeral was professor W. W. Peters, who had just been elected president of Mt. Morris College. Professor Peters grew up in the home of Elder Coppock and was as a foster son. There are many people today to whom Brother Coppock was a sa father and a friend. Seldom have people of his age been so interested in young people and so helpful to them. | Archivist Note | The photo was accessioned in 2004 but an accession page was not created.
