Bio History Note | President Duane Sautbine is interviewed in this May 1, 1980 newspaper article written by Jim Wolavka, Manchester College student.
The Sapartan Chew Crew is identified as Manchester College's newest club. The club had a charter from Red Man Tobacco and was anticipating official membership by 1 May in the Cuspidor Hitters Association Worldwide (CHAW). The article reported that Levi Garrett Tobacco Company furnished CHAW members with tobacco for promotions/contests. CHAW included 39 active organizations. Headquarters was Crawfordsville, Wabash College, where students started the first CHAW club. Manchester's chapter had a provisionary charter for one year and the club must raise one charity event to get an eternity charter, the proceeds going to any charity. 36 people turned up for the first meeting.
