Bio History NoteManchester College President Vernon Franklin Schwalm was inaugurated on 18 November, 1941.  Yale University asked Dr. Bachman  to represent Yale in the ceremony as a "Delegate"  to the event.  Dr. Bachman had received his PhD. in Organic Chemistry from Yale University in 1929 and in 1939 joined the faculty of Purdue University, where he taught for the next 33 years, mentoring 73 PhD candidates in Organic Chemistry as well as doing consulting work for several companies in the area of Carbon burning properties.
