Among other positions, he served as Executive Secretary to the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations. He went on to serve as Columbia's dean of the School of International Affairs and as its president. He was a trustee of Manchester College as well. According to a tribute written by Manchester College Past President A. Blair Helman, Cordier was also a Church of the Brethren minister. Andrew Cordier was married for 48 years to Dorothy Butterbaugh '23 Cordier and had two children, Lowell and Louise. He died on 10 July 1975. Manchester College's Cordier Auditorium is named in his honor.
