Bio History Note | Cordier was a student and a Professor at Manchester College and went on to be Undersecretary of the United Nations. Cordier was also the first dean of the School of International Affairs at Columbia University, then acting President and President of that University. He was a member of Manchester College's Board of Trustees during the Helman's tenure.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, John F. Kennedy asked Rusk to instruct Cordier to come up with an alternative plan in case the ultimatum of 1962 failed. This alternative plan remained a secret until former Secretary of State Dean Rusk revealed it 25 years later.
