1. One box with many tissue wrapped potsherds, and petrified wood  See description in Biographical/Historical Note. Sherds were noted as being from Arizona pueblo.  The Center for History rejected these pieces because they were not within the definition of their collection.

2.  One tissue wrapped bundle with what appears to be pieces of material used for cutting/scraping along with a piece of what appears to be petrified wood? [taken to North Manchester Center for History for inclusion with old museum Miami pieces]. Note:  The Center rejected the pieces due to their fragmentary and unidentifiable condition.

These tissue wrapped fragments were found in the basement of the Communications Building before demolition  in 2007.  They were located in what was known as the "Museum."   The Museum housed the Manchester College collection of college related objects and African/International art.  At least two attempts were made to organization the objects, and Archivist, Jeanine Wine, continued to accession articles that had not been logged into the system.  As of 10 August 2007 the college related objects were being moved to the North Manchester Center for History on Main St., North Manchester to be kept on long term loan. William Eberly was the overseer of their care.  This box did not go to the Center for History during the 2007 move but was offered to the Center for History by J. Wine in 2015.  The Center for History refused the objects and they remain in the MU Archives.

Update:  In 2015 the Center for History returned objects to the Archives that did not fit into the Center's collection and we mutually decided to discard items that were not valuable to the Center for History or to the Archives at Manchester University and Brethren Historical Collection.  The Center also received ownership of the previous "Museum" collection.

The Archivist contacted the Herd Museum in Phoenix, Arizona to see if they wished the sherds returned to their state's Native American collection.  The response was negative due to the vast number of such potsherds in existence.  They said we could keep the sherds. J. Wine 2015
