One photo. | Date of Accession | 16 April 2008 | Bio History Note | Dan West was the originator of the Heifer Project. In this photo he is speaking at a service of dedication for a shipment of heifers to South America, at the Dayton, Ohio Municipal airport, May 23, 1939. Ray Petersime is on the right. This photo is to be found on page 1331 in the Brethren Encyclopedia. Ray Petersime, a poultry-incubator manufacturer by profession, also worked through "Heifers for Relief" and fellow Brethren in Ohio to send 55,800 hatchling eggs for distribution in Poland. The eggs were flown from Dayton, Ohio, to Warsaw, Poland. Arrangements were made by UNRRA*. UNRRA* also and flew Petersime with the eggs to spend time in Poland as an agricultural consultant.
