Bio History Note | Bob Wagoner and Shirley Williams write the preface for this collection of worship materials titled, "When A Man Meets God." "One day toward the latter part of the spring term at Manchester College, 1951, two persons walked into the office of the Director of Religious Activities, Prof. T. Wayne Rieman, and quietly began ransacking his worship files. Lugging practically a suitcase full of stuff with them, they safely made their escape to southern California. Here, together with a few odds and ends of their own, they began to organize and sort out the material with the end in view of collecting some of it into a small worship notebook. The summer wore on and the stack of material grew higher and higher. Finally the two culprits decided that the job was too big for them and sent out letters requesting funds from their friends to carry on the project. ......... This collection of worship materials has primarily been gathered from worship services that have been written and organized by students at Manchester College. Most of it has been done under the direction and inspiration of Tim Rieman, and our debt of gratitude to him is beyond measure. Kathy Fike - illustrator and cover designer. Merrill Mow - transport manager who lugged materials 150 miles over icy roads. Edo (Ede?) Weaver and the Chicago BVS unit - thanks for time, energy, and materials in getting book mimeographed. |
