Ethel (Leibert) Stong's 18 May 1922 diploma stating that she had successfully completed the Academic Course of Study offered at Manchester College. In addition, a photograph of Ethel holding the diploma accompanies the collection. According to the "Aurora" yearbook and to the Manchester College "Catalogue" the Academic Course of Study was offered by Manchester College's "Academy." It followed the prescribed course of study for commissioned high school in Indiana, published by the Indiana State Board of Education. The student completing this program received a degree equal to that of a commissioned high school diploma. Note: It appears as if inaccuracies exist in the Alumni Directory. First, misspelling of name. "Leibert" is inscribed on diploma and "Liebert" written in alumni directory. Also, the directory indicates that Ethel completed a "Normal" course of study when she was actually a graduate of the "Academy." |
