Folder #6 - Church of the Brethren Related Objects


Program, "A Time of Dedication, Bethel Church of the Brethren, New Educational Wing, with the theme, 'Forward Through the Ages,' held on 15 September 1968, pastor, William Roop. Included in the program is a history of the Bethel Church, which began within the bounds of the Solomon's Creek congregation or district of the German Baptist Church.

Letter to Mr. A. L. Gilbert of Milford, Indiana regarding a pledge to the Manchester College Arts Building building fund and signed by president Otho Winger, 29 April 1939.

Letter dated 13 September 1926 reminding the recipient to pay interest on a Manchester College endowment note.


29 August 1927 letter from J. Edson Ulery to "Dear Friend of Manchester College" regarding a pledge made to Manchester and requesting payment on the "note." An accompanying envelope has a handwritten "paid" inscribed on the verso.

Card including the New Missionaries and Brethren Service Workers educated at Bethany Biblical Seminary. A request is given to donate towards the Bethany Chapel and Improvement Fund. Individuals included on the card are: Richard Burger, Ann Burger, James Bowman, Merle Bowman, Lyle Albright, Rowena Albright, Claude Wolfe, June Wolfe, Earl Snader, and Delores Snader.

Bio History Note

Arthur L. Gilbert expanded the accounting department at Manchester College.  A 1953 graduate of Manchester College, he began his teaching career at Manchester in 1958. 

Art's father is also A. L. Gilbert, and resided in Milford, Indiana.  He served as treasurer for Milford Church of the Brethren.
