Scope and Content

One CD made from tape.  The original tape is unplayable on Archives equipment and the original tape was unidentified by the individual doing the digitization, so the original is in the Archives, but was identified as "Mystery Tape, Track 1." A digital wave sound file was then created from this magnetic reel-to-reel tape and a copy is located on Archives Network [W] in folder titled [Advancement_Marketing].

James Farmer, Civil Rights Activist,  with Dean Howard Book presentating. James Farmer was Race relations secretary with Fellowship of Reconciliation.  He was also involved in the labor movement. Author, "Freedom When," Random House, 1966. Recommendation for the Honorary Degree "Honor of Humanities."  Conferring of degree by President Helman. 1972

Thurl Metzger receipt of honorary degree. Thurl was actively involved in Heifer Project The degree was granted in 1972.

Robert Miller Stauffer: Conferring of degree, Doctor of Laws. Manager of North Manchester Foundry.

 

Archivist Note

Transfer from tape to CD in 2010 by Stan Pittman and copied to a wave sound digital file in 2015 by MU Department of Information Technology Services. Original magnetic reel-to-reel audio tape discarded by J. Wine on 1 January 2016 because the best possible copy had already been made and the tape would only be in a state of deterioration.
