One CD and two Wave Sound digital files made from cassette tape and reel-to-reel tape.

The convocation cassette tape #27 was probably copied from the reel-to-reel tape. Both cassette and reel-to-reel tapes were discarded due to deterioration

Bio History Note

Elizabeth Cotton C, composer of "Freight Train," and one of the country's top Folk Blues guitarists, presents a convocation at Manchester College.  She plays the guitar and gives personal reflections about life in the rural south in the first years of the 20th century and reflections about aging.

The convocation is  titled, "Spirituals/Folksongs/Blues," at was presented at Manchester College on 4 October 1976.

Archivist Note

Reel-to-reel audio tape transferred to CD by Instructional Technologies Department in December 2010 or January 2011 and then copied as Wave Sound file Spring 2016. Cassette tape copied as Wave Sound file during April 2016. Reel-to-reel tape discarded in Spring of 2016 by Jeanine Wine.
