Bio History Note

May Day had not been established in 1897, but it appears as if these female students celebrated spring by having their photograph taken while holding bouquets of foliage (perhaps lilacs).

[note by archivist: Married names of women seem to be written in parenthesis.  eg., Mrs. Alice King (Eby); Actually Ebey is Alice's married name.  She and husband were to become missionaries to India.].

Phoebe King (Ebey) graduated from the Academy in 1897.

In Photograph b Alice Ebey is identified as the teacher.  She did come to Manchester College from Mount Morris College when E. S. Young (also from Mt. Morris) began Manchester College and The Bible School.
