Also included is a 6 February 1942 South Bend Tribune article in which President Schwalm is quoted as a speaker for the Lion's Club. The subject was "Abraham Lincoln." Schwalm is quoted as saying, "Those fighting must not only champion democracy with their intellects but must have emotion and zeal for a great cause.  They must feel that if America fails then democracy fails.  Hitler's men are fighting like demons for a bad and unjust system and we must fight to prove that right makes might."

Articles on "Odd-Fellowship" and its history and Why Christians cannot belong to the Lodge.  Another article,  "Webster on Secret Societies."

Note: Folders #7 and #8  - Brethren Publishing House and Manchester College materials that were thrown into the bottom drawer of Winger's filing cabinet and included in that "pile." Student worker in the archives, Zoe Vorndron, and archivist,Jeanine Wine, organized these materials and deemed it appropriate to put these papers in 2 folders that described financial matters, although the researcher should realize Winger had not organized them as such.

Folder #7 - 1922 Financial Report of the Brethren Publishing House - Copy of Subscription for Buying Brethren's Publishing Co., For the purpose of purchasing the stock of the Brethren's Pub. Note:  Otho Winger really wanted the Fine Arts Building to be constructed and started soliciting funds.  Eventually, probably Holl and the Trustees would put Winger's plan on hold until more funds could be raised.  This was a very hard blow to Winger and his feelings toward Holl (probably instigated by this matter) can be read about in Winger's correspondence with Vernon Schwalm.
