Many Stories Submitted for Otho Winger Day at Manchester College.

Sylvia Miller, MC Class of 1939 - kind Otho Winger student worker in library story - Sylvia eventually became  the Senior Catalogue Librarian at the Fort Wayne Public Library.

"The Man With the Personal Touch," by Nelda Rhoades Eikenberry, a story about Otho Winger  - Nelda relates that Winger brought the first black student to Manchester College and asked Nelda and her roommate to take her into their room. He brought the first American Indian from a reservation in Montana who he placed in the room with my husband to be, Lorrel Eikenberry.  [Note: whether this is information about "first" is accurate or not, needs to be researched...the "first" black students on campus were in 1900, with Joseph Cunningham and Mattie Cunningham Dolby.]

The first M Athletic Banquet was on Homecoming Day, 14 October 1939.
