Bio History NoteDr. Roger and Ntalie Troup were medical missionaries for the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) in Jos, Nigeria. Although not members of the Church of the Brethren, and being workers for the SIM, and not the Church of the Brethren, they provided medical attention to many COB missionaries. Dr. Troup was the physician of Jacob and Jean Wine, COB missionaries stationed as house-parents at Hillcrest School (Jos).  It was Dr. Troup that delivered Jean's 3rd premature baby, a little girl, who died within an hour of birth.  Dr. Troup tended Wine through a fourth pregnancy, which was successful. The Troups and the Wines became life-long friends, and Natalie Troup provided them with a copy of this history.  The Wines are mentioned within its pages, as are other COB missionaries such as Wilma Schrag, and Lucille and Clarence Hekman..

Dr. Troup's sister, Jeanette Troup, was the primary physician at the SIM hospital in Jos, when Dr. John Hamer and Esther Hamer, serving at the Lassa COB Hospital, transported a dying Laura Wine to Jos. Dr. Jeanette did not want to perform an autopsy, but Dr. Hamer convinced Troup to assist him in extracting  fluids from Wine's body which were then used in the discovery of Lassa Fever.
