Manchester University will host Crossover Camp: A Slam Dunk Into Literacy, a free camp for community students in grades 6-8, from March 31 to April 4.

The camp will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. each day. The experience will be centered around the inspiring story The Crossover by Kwame Alexander, a 2014 children’s book written in verse that explores family, brotherhood and basketball.

Students will engage in literacy and poetry activities led by MU faculty and students of the Henney Department of Education. Free meals and materials will be provided.

The camp will culminate in a poetry showcase on April 4. Students are welcome to invite guests.
