Manchester University will welcome Linda Eckert, M.D., for a presentation on cervical cancer prevention on Monday, April 14.

The program, titled, “The Truth Still Matters: The HPV Story,” is at 11 a.m. in Wine Recital Hall at the North Manchester campus. It is free and open to the public.

Eckert, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Washington, will discuss her efforts to prevent cervical cancer. Her book Enough: Because We Can Stop Cervical Cancer addresses the cultural issues that have contributed to the continued deaths of women with cervical cancer, despite having a vaccine and screening that can prevent it. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer linked to human papillomavirus (HPV).

Eckert has more than 30 years of experience in medicine and has worked around the world in direct patient care and as a consultant in cervical cancer prevention.
