Hetrick named staff member of the year at Manchester
Greg Hetrick is the 2020 Christopher W. Garber Staff Member of the Year at Manchester University.
He is assistant dean of enrollment management and community engagement at the Fort Wayne campus.
Greg works closely with teams on both the North Manchester and Fort Wayne campuses to help recruit students for the pharmacy, pharmacogenomics and master of athletic training programs.
Hetrick graduated from Manchester in 2005 with a degree in elementary education and began teaching third grade in Logansport. In 2007, a chance to work at his alma mater was calling, and Greg answered that call.
He started as an admissions counselor working out of the North Manchester campus and was promoted in 2009 to associate director for recruitment. He excelled in the admissions arena and moved to the Fort Wayne campus in 2011 to become director of student services for the Pharmacy Program.
He was instrumental in planning Manchester’s first summer pharmacy camp for high school and colleges students this year, which moved online. He works on articulation agreements with other institutions to open new opportunities for current and future Manchester students. He identified and built a new application pipeline for students from Puerto Rico. He also has improved and expanded use of online tools that help manage enrollment and centralize application services.
He is active in the Pre-Pharmacy Club on the North Manchester campus. Hetrick also works closely with Student Financial Services and the Registrar’s Office to help answer student questions.
He is a member of Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana.
This is the fifth year for the Garber award and Hetrick is the first recipient from the Fort Wayne campus.
The award recognizes a staff member who exemplifies the Manchester Mission. Nominated by their colleagues, the recipients are respected by co-workers and loyal to the University. The award is named for the late Chris Garber, a problem-solver with a positive attitude who encouraged others along the way.
