November is Native American Heritage Month. Did you know that Native Americans are the only people who need to prove their identity, which is managed under the Department of the Interior, the same department that manages public lands and minerals, national parks, and wildlife refuges? We are privileged to learn from a first-person account by Success Advisor Chasity Lucio (M.A. intercultural studies), a member of the Mi'kmaq Nation as she shares what it is like to negotiate two lives, one being part of a collective community/culture, and the other in the Midwest. This offers a glimpse into the ‘national’ identity shaped by her faith and cultural traditions, education, and contemporary issues.

Masks are required in Cordier.
