Dr. Craig Higson-Smith, research psychologist and past director of research with the Centre for Victims of Torture, reflects on how the challenges of his career, both in his home region of Southern Africa and around the world, have defined his beliefs and work. Higson-Smith will discuss the challenges of the contemporary international landscape, including the role of the United States of America.

Higson-Smith has worked in violence prevention, peace-making and trauma care for thirty years. He has written and edited several books, book chapters and academic articles in the field of traumatic stress.
