MU invites North Manchester to holiday celebrations

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester University invites the community to join students, faculty and staff in celebrating the season of giving. All celebrations are open to the public.

A Glorious Holiday Pops!

The Manchester Symphony Orchestra is excited to present “A Glorious Holiday Pops!” on Sunday, Dec. 4. This presentation will be at 3 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium on the North Manchester campus. This holiday celebration will include John Rutter's Gloria, with Manchester University’s A Cappella Choir, and all of your favorite holiday tunes. 
The price is $15 for adults and is free for students younger than 18 and all MU students, faculty and staff are admitted free.

Tree-Lighting Ceremony

MU will host a Tree-Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 8, on East Street between the Welcome Center and the Jo Young Switzer Center. The MU Chamber Singers and church choirs will perform at 6 p.m., with the tree-lighting at 6:25 p.m. Santa will arrive on a firetruck at 6:30 p.m. 
There will be refreshments, photos with Santa and a selfie station with Manny, the MU mascot. The traditional Festival of Trees will be on the upper level of the Jo Young Switzer Center.
That section of East Street is scheduled to close for the event is order for participants to walk safely. Visitor parking is on the north side of the center and the lower lot of the Physical Education and Recreation Center (PERC).
This celebration is free.

A Service of Lessons and Carols

The MU Department of Music presents A Service of Lessons and Carols on Saturday, Dec. 10. This free service will be at the Manchester Church of the Brethren at 7 p.m. and will feature the Chamber Singers with Debra Lynn as conductor and Cantabile with Scott Avery as conductor. A bake sale and stuffed stocking silent auction will follow the service as a fundraiser for the MU spring choir tour. Manchester Church of the Brethren is at 1306 Beckley St.
