Ochs to speak about LGBT rights in Manchester program

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester University welcomes Robyn Ochs as she discusses advances in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual rights on Tuesday, Feb.23.

 “Imagining Our Lives” will be offered at 3:30 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium at the North Manchester campus. This LGBT presentation is free and open to the public. 

Ochs will discuss how in some areas people have more civil rights than ever before while in other areas the advances are being rolled back. She will aim to educate and provide words of encouragement for these challenging times. 

She is an educator, speaker and an editor of the Bi Women Quarterly, the 42-country anthology Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World and a new anthology, RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men.

As an advocate for the rights of individuals of all sexual orientations and genders to live safely, openly and with full access and opportunity, Ochs’ work emphasizes raising awareness and understanding of complex identities, while encouraging people to support one another within and across identities and social movements.

The Feb. 23 presentation is being sponsored by United Sexualities and the Psychological Society at Manchester. It is part of the Values, Ideas and the Arts series, which offers cultural exposure and intellectual enrichment for students.
