Manchester speaker offers game plan to take dreams to reality
Patrick Walker-Reese, a dream builder and educator, will speak at Manchester University about the value of ideas and what it takes to make dreams a reality.
“How Ideas Manifest Into Dreams” is 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27 in the upper level of the Jo Young Switzer Center on the North Manchester campus. It is free, and the public is welcome.
An active vlogger, Walker-Reese is co-founder of Aspire, an educational consulting firm which teaches leaders, organizations and students how to be their best selves by finding their passion and leveraging their strengths and vision to gain success and build joy.
He will use current trends and pop culture to show how aspirations can reach a new level. The presentation promises to be highly interactive, and he will introduce “revolutionary partnerships” and ideas that have taken off in the past few years.
“I want to expose dreamers to the work it takes to make their dreams a reality, and the concepts that will help them start today,” he said.
Walker-Reese’s story is one of overcoming hardships. Growing up in East Nashville, Tenn., his father was incarcerated, and his mother struggled with addiction. The epitome of resilience, he uses life lessons of “making it” to encourage others to become the person they want to be and equip them for the journey.
He has been a featured speaker at Clemson University, the National Urban League and Tennessee State University. Walker-Reese graduated from Tennessee State in 2010 with a history degree and a master’s degree in public administration in 2014.
First-year students in the Manchester University Honors Program (www.manchester.edu/honors) proposed the presentation for the Values, Ideas and the Arts series.
