Students invited to explore health professions at Manchester University

High school and college students are invited to visit Manchester.FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Manchester University invites high school and college students who are interested in athletic training, pharmacy or social work to its Fort Wayne campus for the Health Professions at Manchester event.

It is 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at 10627 Diebold Road, just east of Interstate 69 near the Dupont Road exit.

Register by Monday, Sept. 26.
 
Registrants will meet Manchester faculty and students in those programs and health professions, learn about the admissions process and financial aid, and participate in a health fair that includes information about the possibilities a student could pursue in each area.

The Sept. 29 event is being held in conjunction with Health Professions Week

Though not represented at the Sept. 29 event, MU health-related programs include adapted physical activity, biology-chemistry, chemistry, gerontology, health promotion, medical technology, pharmacogenomics, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-occupational therapy, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy, pre-physician assistant, pre-veterinary medicine and psychology. Over the past five years, 89 percent of Manchester biology-chemistry graduates who applied to medical school were accepted. The national average is about 40 percent.

Manchester has campuses in North Manchester and Fort Wayne. It offers more than 60 areas of academic study to 1,500 students in undergraduate programs, a Master of Athletic Training, a Master of Pharmacogenomics and a four-year professional Doctor of Pharmacy.
