Kisor quoted in national publication about codeine, tramadol

 

David-KisorPharmacy Today quotes David Kisor, Manchester University director of pharmacogenomics education, about the FDA’s latest warning on medications containing codeine and tramadol that restricts use in children younger than 12 and firmly cautions its use in those 12 to 18 with certain medical conditions due to risks of slowed breathing and even possible death.

Some pharmacists wonder why the FDA didn’t consider children who can be screened for a CYP2D6 genotype that could be used to predict if they were at risk. Read more.
