Summer camps offered in 2017

 
Manchester University offers 2017 summer camps

 

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.  – Manchester University offers summer camps for youths who want to learn more about basketball, chess, cooking, football, LEGO basic skills, LEGO robotics and wrestling. It is also bringing back the popular scrapbooking and crafting retreat for all ages.

Camps will be on the North Manchester, Ind., campus in June and July, offering hands-on learning about specialized topics in a fun setting.

Classes are taught by professionals, some of whom are Manchester’s own coaches and faculty members. Prices and registration deadlines vary based on the camp. Information is available at manchester.edu/summercamps.

Boys Basketball Camp
When: June 5-7 or July 10-12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
What: Strengthen basketball fundamentals and learn the importance of teamwork during 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 contests.
Cost: $150. Discount to $125 if deposited by May 28 (for first summer camp) or July 1 (for second summer camp). Additional sibling $75
Who: Grades 2-8

Chess Success
When: June 19-23, 1-4 p.m.
What: Manchester Professor Judd Case will teach the game, tactics, and strategies of chess.
Cost: $99, register by June 14
Who: Grades 3-7

Cooking for the CriticsCooking for the Critics
When: June 28-30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 
What: Campers will cook alongside nationally recognized Chef Chris Fogerty. Camp will feature foods from Harry Potter and Disney movies.
Cost: $135, register by June 23
Who: Ages 9-14

Football Camp
When: July 15
What: Coach Nate Jensen will instruct on 7-on-7 competition, offensive and defensive line instruction
Cost: $100/team for Jamboree Camp or Big Man Camp, or $150 for both camps
Who: High school football teams

LEGO Camp
When: June 26-30, 8 -11 a.m. (Grades 1-3), 1-4 p.m. (Grades 4-6)
What: Fun way to learn basic engineering principles, science, math and problem-solving using LEGO products.
Cost: $99
Who: Grades 1-3 and 4-6

LEGO Robotics 101
When: June 19-23, 9 a.m. – noon
What: Build, program and test robots that use motors and sensors using LEGO products.
Cost: $150
Who: Grades 6-8

Scrapbooking and Crafting RetreatScrapbooking and Crafting Retreat
When: June 2-4
What: Take your scrapbooking to the next level at Manchester University’s 11th Annual Scrapbooking Retreat, with meals prepared by a national award-winning chef.
Cost: $170 for weekend retreat, $105 commuter retreats, with discounts for returning scrapbookers, crafters and MU employees and alumni. Register my May 26.
Who: All are welcome.

Wrestling Camp
When: June 25-29
What: Build technical skills and tactical knowledge
Cost: $375 for individual overnight campers, with discounts for teams and coaches; $250 for commuter campers
Who: Grades 7-12
