Affiliation: Associate Professor Pharmaceutical and Clinical Sciences College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Campbell University

Event Details: Dr. Xin Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. She obtained her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences before she came to the US to do her postdoctoral research in antiviral drug discovery in the College of Pharmacy at University of Georgia. She continued her postdoctoral research in anticancer drug discovery at Purdue University College of Pharmacy. She then moved to the University of North Carolina College of Pharmacy where she worked on multiple drug discovery projects as a research associate and then research assistant professor in the department of Pharmacology. She began her teaching in pharmacy school from 2017, first as an assistant professor at Presbyterian College and then at Campbell University where she became associate professor in 2023.

Dr. Chen has been working in drug discovery for about 20 years. She has successfully developed multiple drug candidates/chemical probes in the areas of anti-cancer, epigenetics, antiviral and neurosciences. She is very familiar with the drug discovery and development process and is an expert in synthetic methodologies, retro-synthetic analyses, purification and verification of chemical structures, as well as all the medicinal chemistry strategies in SAR studies and lead optimizations. Her current research interests include anticancer drug discovery and exploring novel strategies for pain management.

The Spring 2024 Series will be in-person (in MUFW 136) and/or live-streamed. All sessions will be recorded. To access a recording of the session, please contact Dr. Wei Lei (wlei@manchester.edu)
